A Behind-the-Scenes Peek

Ooookuuur. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve posted anything here at Bone+Marrow, and I thought I’d give you a quick behind-the-scenes peek of what’s been happening, and what’s to come.

Beth and I started this venture in the fall of 2019, which was birthed out of many conversations regarding purpose, character, personality, and an authentic desire to love people well.  How can we do this in a digital space where we can invite people in to our conversations? How can we equip people to function wholistically both at home, at work, and in their relationships? Basic understanding of personality assessments has been a huge part of our conversations and how we’ve developed relationships with each other and ourselves.  And so, Bone+Marrow, a marketplace of ideas and inspirations, was born.

We launched humbly simply because we needed a platform to engage with people and to fund the venture, and starting with gifting well during the holiday season seemed to be, was, and still is a great opportunity.  Gift giving well has always been close to my heart; my love language is gifts and can be a huge blessing or major disappointment at every gift-giving event or season. Because a gift can often times reflect how the giver sees the recipient, it can be tough to recieve gifts that just don’t feel accurate to who you are. Plus, to be really thoughtful requires a lot of time, and sometimes that time just doesn’t exist–especially in crowded holiday seasons.

Now that the holidays are over, we are left with wondering–what do we do now? Of course there are plenty of opportunities to give gifts well, but if we are just affiliate selling, does that actually create the conversations we want to have with you? The short answer is…no.

Enneagram 3 Candle Enough

We spent some quality time together in February burning an Enneagram 3 Candle from our friends at the Enneagram Candles, and savoring the beautiful writing by our friends over at the Enneagram Magazine.  The quality time with quality products and the gratefulness to be on this journey with them and all of you left us a bit reflective.

We want to go deeper, engage better, and walk alongside you as you explore what it means to come fully alive.  And that might mean we start talking more authentically about what’s happening, how we are navigating the things, and what tools we are using along the way. For example, did you know that I moved to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in December? Well, I did.  And it’s been a major change I might expand upon in a future post. But knowing I am an Enneagram 7 has helped me realize when I’m bumping into an electrical fence of feelings and triggers. Honestly, just being able to acknowledge WHY certain things bother me has kept me from packing a bag and heading back to all my comforts and freedoms. Did you also know that Beth has a full-time job in ministry leading a team of people? She does, and she’s walking out in real life what it means to lead others (and their hearts and tasks) well.

These are just a few of the insights behind Bone+Marrow and the growing pains of deciding who we are, who we want to be, and how we plan on getting there. We would love to know what and how we can make this a safe space for you to be seen and known in the comments below.
